Examples of grants awarded by the Committee For Relief To Polish Children in 2018
We would like to inform you that the Grant Committee on December 11, 2018 awarded grants to the following centers:
- Hospice for terminally ill children "Alma spei" of Krakow for the purchase of a portable oxygen concentrator and a pulse oximeter with sensors;
- The Welfare Home for intellectually disabled boys in Iwonicz Zdrój for the purchase of an ergometer for rehabilitation and a convection oven for baking breads and cakes;
- The Special Educational Center in Gniezno for the purchase of a convection oven for baking breads and cakes, as well as a refrigerator and furniture for the day care center.
- To the "Closer to Myself" Aid Association supporting the functioning of the intellectually disabled of the Social Welfare Home in Zakrzewia for the purchase of household equipment financed by the Mrs. Wanda de Rusan Foundation.
- To the Social Welfare Home for Children and Youth in Tarnobrzeg for the purchase of personal file cabinets and refrigerated cabinets for storing food products.
- To the Social Welfare Home for Children and Youth in Lopienno for the purchase of rehabilitation equipment.
- To the "House of the Guardian Angels" Children and Youth Aid Association in Katowice, which takes care of children from poor and pathological families, for the purchase of furniture and equipment for therapeutic common rooms, as well as household appliances and consumer electronics.
- The "Our Children" Foundation at the Oncology Clinic at the Children's Memorial Health Center Institute in Warsaw for the purchase of a simulator that is used to prepare parents to inject drugs intravenously into children after chemotherapy.
- The Youth Welfare Home, run by the Sisters of St. Dominic in Broniszewice, caring for intellectually and physically disabled boys, was awarded PLN 57,100 for the purchase of rehabilitation tables, a vibration massage device for the spine and a lift with a rotator suspension for the limbs.
In addition, the Grants Commission awarded grants from the residue of the Wanda De Roussan Foundation fund to the Kalisz Society for Palliative Care, caring for disabled children in Zakrzewo, for the purchase of 6 oxygen concentrators and 8 portable suction units. The committee also approved that the missing amount ($890) for the reported needs be covered from the Committee's fund, and that this organization be placed under our care.
The committee also granted $1,000 each to the Montreal Nursing Home for the Elderly and the Montreal School Board for funding.
